PERFORMING IN MASK...THE BLACK BIRD WHO SPOKE THREE TIMES

VIDEO OF THE MASK PERFORMANCE BY RITA GRIMALDI

Over the past two and a half months, Rita has been preparing the performance mask of the Black Bird, the main character in her adaptation of the tale 'The Bird Who Spoke Three Times'. In addition, she has been posting a series of log notes on her creative journey. If you have not yet read her log entries on this Tales and Tips blog, please take the time to do so before viewing this video of her performance.

Storytelling is truly a creative art. Designing, making and performing a story in a character mask is a unique skill that few storytellers in North America have been able to achieve in such a powerful manner. Rita's contribution to the literature and video record of mask performance is without match in today's published material on a very specialized skill within the storytelling community.

Rita is a co-founder of Peterborough Storytellers and is a true master of the art of telling tales in all genres.
